When most people hear Blackstone, they immediately think of one thing: smashburgers.

And don't get me wrong — I love a good smashburger. But if that's all you're using your Blackstone for, you're barely scratching the surface.

When I bought my first Blackstone, I knew I wanted to do more than just burgers. I wanted to take the meals I grew up eating, the foods my family loves, and the crazy ideas that pop into my head and see what I could do with them on a flat-top griddle.

Turns out, the answer to 'What can you cook on a Blackstone?' is pretty much:

Almost anything.

🍳 Breakfast

The Blackstone might be one of the best breakfast cooking surfaces out there.

You can cook bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast, hash browns, breakfast potatoes, breakfast sandwiches and so much more — all at the same time.

One of my favorite things about the griddle is being able to build an entire breakfast without dirtying a bunch of pans.

And let's be honest: everything tastes better when bacon is involved.

🍔 Burgers & Sandwiches

This is where the Blackstone really made its name.

Smashburgers are a perfect match for the flat-top because you can get that crispy crust while keeping the inside juicy.

But don't stop at burgers.

Try:

  • Chicken sandwiches
  • Patty melts
  • Grilled cheese
  • Steak sandwiches
  • Cheesesteaks
  • Sloppy joes
  • Meatball subs
  • Breakfast sandwiches
  • Cuban-style sandwiches
  • Grilled ham and cheese

Even something as simple as a grilled cheese becomes something completely different when you cook it outside on the Blackstone.

🌮 Tacos & Mexican-Inspired Food

The Blackstone is basically a taco-building machine.

Cook your meat, toast your tortillas, sauté your onions and peppers, and warm everything up right on the griddle.

Some ideas:

  • Chicken tacos
  • Steak tacos
  • Street corn tacos
  • Quesadillas
  • Fajitas
  • Burritos
  • Fried taco shells
  • Birria-style tacos
  • Breakfast tacos

And if you're feeling adventurous, start combining leftovers.

That's one of my favorite parts of Blackstone cooking — there really aren't many rules.

🍚 Fried Rice

If you've never made fried rice on a Blackstone, you're missing out.

The large cooking surface gives you plenty of room to spread everything out and get that good griddle flavor.

Chicken, steak, shrimp, bacon, eggs, vegetables, rice — you can throw together an entire meal.

I've even taken fried rice beyond the traditional version and turned it into things like Hawaiian fried rice served inside a pineapple.

That's the fun part. You don't have to follow the recipe on the package.

🍕 Pizza

Yes, you can make pizza on a Blackstone.

With the right setup, you can cook pizza, toast the crust, melt the cheese and create some seriously good combinations.

And this is where you can really have fun.

Chicken bacon ranch? Mandarin teriyaki chicken? BBQ chicken? Smashburger pizza?

The Blackstone lets you experiment without needing to turn your kitchen into a disaster zone.

🥩 Steak

A Blackstone can also be an incredible tool for steak.

You can sear steaks directly on the surface and get a beautiful crust.

One of my favorite approaches is a reverse-seared steak — smoke the steak first, then finish it on the Blackstone for that hard sear.

That's exactly the kind of combination that makes outdoor cooking so much fun.

Smoke + griddle = 🔥

🍗 Chicken

Chicken is another one where the possibilities are endless.

You can cook:

  • Chicken cutlets
  • Chicken breasts
  • Chicken thighs
  • Chicken tenders
  • Chicken wings
  • Chicken fajitas
  • Chicken sandwiches
  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Buffalo chicken

And don't be afraid to use breaded chicken.

A crispy chicken cutlet cooked on the Blackstone can become the foundation for tacos, sandwiches, chicken parm or just about anything else you can dream up.

🥓 Bacon… Obviously

Let's dedicate an entire section to bacon.

Because bacon deserves it.

The Blackstone makes it incredibly easy to cook a lot of bacon at once, and once you've got bacon grease on that surface, you've basically created a flavor factory.

Breakfast. Burgers. Chicken. Pizza. Grilled cheese. Loaded potatoes.

Bacon belongs everywhere.

🌭 Hot Dogs & Sausage

Hot dogs are another easy win.

But don't just throw them on and walk away.

Split them, crisp them up, add grilled onions, peppers, cheese or whatever toppings you like.

You can also cook:

  • Italian sausage
  • Bratwurst
  • Kielbasa
  • Breakfast sausage
  • Chorizo
  • Andouille

The griddle gives you plenty of room to cook the meat and toppings together.

🥔 Potatoes

Potatoes might be one of the most underrated Blackstone foods.

Hash browns. Home fries. Loaded potatoes. Breakfast potatoes. Tater tots. French fries. Potatoes with onions and peppers.

Throw some bacon in there and now we're talking.

🧀 Grilled Cheese & Childhood Favorites

This is one of my favorite categories.

One of the reasons I love Blackstone cooking is because it lets me take foods I remember from growing up and make them bigger, crazier and sometimes completely ridiculous.

Grilled bologna and cheese? Absolutely. Homemade hot pockets? Yep. Grilled cheese? Of course.

The Blackstone isn't just about fancy food. Sometimes the best meal is the one that reminds you of being a kid.

🍩 Dessert

And yes… you can even make dessert.

French toast. Cinnamon rolls. S'mores tacos. Dessert quesadillas. Grilled fruit. Donuts.

I've even played around with Krispy Kreme donuts on the Blackstone.

Because apparently we decided that donuts weren't unhealthy enough already.

🍽️ The Biggest Advantage: One Cooking Surface

For me, one of the biggest advantages of the Blackstone isn't any single food.

It's the ability to cook an entire meal on one surface.

Meat on one side. Vegetables on another. Bread warming up. Cheese melting. Sauce getting incorporated. Everything happening at the same time.

And when you're cooking for a family, that's a huge advantage.

So… What CAN'T You Cook on a Blackstone?

That's probably the better question.

Because once you start using one, you'll realize the Blackstone isn't just a burger machine.

It's a giant outdoor cooking surface that gives you the freedom to experiment.

Take something you've made in your kitchen and ask: 'What would happen if I made this on the Blackstone?'

Sometimes it'll be a disaster. Sometimes it'll be incredible. And sometimes you'll accidentally create your new favorite meal.

That's the Daddio way.

Fire. Flavor. Family.

Get outside, fire up the griddle and start cooking.
